SECURE MULTI-POSITIONS LOCKING DEVICE FOR A REAR SEAT BACK OF A MOTOR VEHICLE.
Field of the invention
The present invention relates generally to the locking devices of a rear seat back on the structure of a motor vehicle.
In particular, it aims at such devices allowing the passenger seated in such a rear seat to lock his file following several distinct inclinations.
Background of the invention
Motor vehicles are generally equipped in the rear area of the passenger compartment of two seats with a seat or common seat adapted to receive several passengers and whose neighboring files are foldable independently of one another according to a transverse axis of pivoting to allow a modularity of the storage space.
Each file is generally associated with a locking device which is responsible for attaching it to a structural element of the vehicle to prevent it from falling on the passengers in case of shock of the vehicle and under the effect of luggage trunk who come up against him.
Such a locking device is conventionally constituted by a latch mounted on the backrest and controlled by an unlocking member, and by a striker mounted on a structural element of the vehicle.
However, the file can only be locked in a single position corresponding to a predetermined inclination.
This non-adaptability of the inclination of the backrest according to the morphology of the passenger causes a lack of comfort in the rear seats of the vehicle compared to the front seats.
To overcome this disadvantage, multi-position locking devices of the rear seat back have been developed in recent years.
FIG. 1 represents a perspective view of the implantation zone of such a multi-position locking device 10 according to the prior art.
This device 10 comprises a lock connected to the frame of the backrest 2 of a motor vehicle rear seat and concealed by the lining 3 of the backrest 2, and a keeper 20 partially housed in a support case 30 attached to an element. of structure of this vehicle constituted here by the backrest strike fixing reinforcement 4.
The lock comprises a rotary bolt extending inside a body delimiting a receiving dome 11 for the striker 20.
The latter comprises a plate 21 having a slot 22 traversed by a sliding guide member secured to the support case 30 and not visible in FIG. 1 as it is concealed by the support case 30.
The plate 21 is extended at the front by a striker yarn 23 protruding permanently at the front of the housing 30 through an opening formed on its front face, this striker thread being intended to engage with the bolt lock to lock the backrest 2 to the attachment brace 4.
The keeper 20 is thus able, while remaining in engagement with the latch, to slide in the support housing 30 in a path extending between a first and a second stop position respectively corresponding to a maximum inclination towards the front and towards the back of the folder 2.
The device 10 also comprises non-visible means for locking the striker 20 relative to the support housing 30 in several positions.
On part of the stroke of the striker near the second stop position, it can be seen that a portion of the light 22 of the plate 21 protrudes at the front of the support housing 30 through its opening.
A person having positioned a hand between the backrest 2 and the covering trim 5 covering the support housing 30 and the fixing reinforcement 4 can then inadvertently introduce one of his fingers into this portion of the light 22 projecting from the before the support case 30, with the risk that this finger is then pinched or crushed if the passenger sitting on the seat at the same time drives the pivoting back of the backrest 2 to adjust its inclination.
Object and summary of the invention
The present invention therefore aims to improve the level of security of such a device.
It proposes for this purpose a multi-position locking device of a folding rear seat backrest of a motor vehicle, comprising a lock connected to said folder and a keeper partially housed in a support case attached to a structural member of said vehicle, said striker comprising a plate having a lumen through which a sliding guiding member integral with said support housing, said plate being extended at the front by an attachment member projecting permanently at the front of said support housing through a opening arranged on its front face, said attachment member being adapted to engage with a bolt that includes said lock to lock said folder on said vehicle structural member; said striker being adapted, while remaining in engagement with said latch, to slide in said support housing in a predetermined stroke, a portion of said light of the plate projecting from the front of said support housing through said opening on a portion of said stroke of the strike; said device further comprising means for locking said striker on said support housing in a plurality of positions; characterized in that it further comprises anti-pinch protection means comprising a bellows extending in front of said support housing from the periphery of said opening on which it is fixed, said bellows being traversed by said striker and arranged so as to permanently surround said projecting portion of said light of the plate.
The bellows that comprises the multi-position locking device according to the invention thus avoids accidental insertion of a finger of a user or any object through the projecting portion of the light of the plate on part of the strike of the strike.
According to preferred features of said locking device according to the invention: - said attachment member is constituted by a U metal striker wire whose base forms a strand of attachment adapted to cooperate with said bolt and whose free ends of two branches are fixed on the front portion of said plate, said anti-pinch protection means further comprising a rigid closure element partially closing the front end of said bellows between said two branches of the striker wire, said closure element being adapted to cooperate on a part of the stroke of said striker with the front end of said plate or with the curved free end of one of said branches so as to cause the forward elongation of said bellows; said closure element is attached and then fixed on said bellows after the latter has been placed on said support housing; said closure element is fixed on said bellows by ultrasonic welding; said gripping member is constituted by a U-shaped metal striker thread, the base of which forms a catching strand adapted to cooperate with said bolt and whose free ends of the two branches are fixed on the front portion of said platen, said struts anti-pinch protection means further comprising a rigid connecting member extending fixedly between said two striker string branches and on which the front portion of said bellows is fixed; - said connecting element is constituted by two half-bodies integrally molded from a thermoplastic polymer optionally filled with mineral fibers and assembled to one another by ultrasonic welding; said bellows is fixed to said connecting element by riveting; said bellows is made of an elastomeric material such as nitrile rubber; said means for locking said striker on said support housing are of motorized type and also make it possible to continuously adjust the position of said striker with respect to said support housing over its entire travel; and / or said means for adjusting and locking said striker comprise a rack extending along the major portion of the upper edge of said plate between two end stops, said rack cooperating with a toothed pinion housed in said housing support and rotatably mounted on a motorized transverse axis.

Detailed description of several preferred embodiments
In the following description and by convention, the terms "front", "rear" and "transverse" will be defined with respect to the usual orientation of a seat mounted in a motor vehicle.
The rear seat backrest 102 shown in FIG. 2 is pivotally mounted relative to a seat or to a frame secured to the vehicle structure along a transverse axis so as to be folded forward, in particular to provide a space for additional loading in the trunk.
This backrest 102 can be rigidly connected to a structural element of the vehicle 104 (in this case constituted by the backrest striker attachment reinforcement) thanks to the locking device 110 according to a tilt range continuously adjustable between a first configuration of maximum inclination towards the rear and a second configuration of maximum inclination towards the front.
This multi-position locking device 110 conventionally comprises a lock connected to the backrest frame 102 (this lock being concealed in FIG. 2 under the lining 103 of this backrest 102), as well as a keeper 120 partially housed in a housing support 130 fixed to the fixing reinforcement 104 (the latter being covered by a trim lining 105 visible in Figure 2).
The lock, which is well known per se, conventionally comprises a fork-shaped rotary latch extending substantially horizontally inside a body delimiting a receiving chute 111 for the striker 120.
The latter comprises a metal plate 121 extended at the front by a metal striker wire 123 whose base 124, extending substantially radially to the axis of pivoting of the backrest 102, forms a permanently projecting strand of hooking at the front of the housing 130 through an opening 132 formed on its front face (Figure 3), this strand 124 being intended to engage with the latch bolt to lock the folder 102 on the reinforcement of 4. The curved free end 125A of the first branch 125 of the striker wire 123 extends radially to the pivot axis of the backrest 102 while being welded along the front edge of the plate 121, while the end free 126A of the second branch 126 extends tangentially by being welded to the front portion of the upper edge of this plate 121.
When the striker wire 123 is inserted into the receiving chute 111 of the lock, the bolt is rotated towards a closed position in which it retains the radial base 124 of this striker thread 123 and thus locks the backrest 102. on the attachment reinforcement 104 of the vehicle.
Unlocking the backrest 102 is achieved via a mechanism not shown connected to the lock and operable by a control located in the upper part of the backrest 102, the actuation of this mechanism having the effect of disengaging the bolt of the wire 123 from the striker 120.
The striker 120 is slidably mounted in the support housing 130, in a circular arc race centered on the pivot axis of the backrest 102 and substantially corresponding to that traversed by the latch during the modification of the angle of inclination of the this folder 102, so as to remain engaged with this lock during the movement of the folder 102.
To do this, the plate 121 has on almost its entire length an oblong slot in an arc 122, centered on the pivot axis of the backrest 102 and traversed by a sliding guide member 131 integral with the support housing 130 .
This guide member is formed here by a metal plate 131 much shorter than the light 122 to allow the sliding of the striker 120, and having an arcuate shape complementary to that of the light 122 so as to limit the games.
The striker 120 is thus able, while remaining in engagement with the latch, to slide in the support housing 130 between a first stop position corresponding to the maximum inclination towards the rear of the backrest 102 (FIGS. 3 to 5), and a second stop position corresponding to the maximum forward inclination of the folder 102 (Figures 2 and 7).
On a part of the stroke of the striker 120 near the second stop position, a portion of the light 122 of the plate 121 protrudes at the front of the support case 130 through the opening 132.
The device 110 also comprises motorized means for continuously adjusting and locking the position of the striker 120 relative to the support housing 130 over its entire stroke.
These means comprise a rack 127 extending along most of the upper edge of the plate 121 between two end stops 128, 129, this rack 127 cooperating with a toothed pinion 133 housed in the support housing 130 and mounted to rotation on a motorized transverse axis.
According to the invention, the device 110 further comprises anti-pinch protection means comprising an expandable bellows 140 provided with a series of folds oriented substantially radially and extending at the front of the support case 130 from the periphery of the opening 132 on which it is fixed.
The bellows 140, preferably made of an elastomeric material (such as nitrile rubber) or thermoplastic, is traversed by the striker 120, the strand 124 of striker wire 123 protrudes permanently at the front of the latter.
The protection means also comprise a rigid closure element 141 partially closing the front end of the bellows 140 between the two branches 125, 126 of the striker wire 123, and intended to cooperate with the curved free end 125A of the first branch 125 strike wire 123 on a portion of the stroke of the striker 120 so as to cause the forward elongation of the bellows 140.
This closure element 141 is preferably integrally molded from a thermoplastic polymer such as polypropylene (PP), acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) or polyamide (PA), optionally loaded with fibers. mineral so as to strengthen its mechanical strength.
It is attached and attached to the bellows 140 after the introduction of the latter on the housing 130 by gluing, crimping or ultrasonic welding.
We will now describe the operation of the protection means according to the invention in support of Figures 5 to 7.
In Figure 5, the striker 120 occupies its first stop position corresponding to the maximum inclination towards the rear of the backrest 102 and in which the plate 121 is completely contained inside the support housing 130.
In this position, the curved free end 125A of the branch 125 of the striker wire 123 is spaced from the element 141, so that the unsolicited bellows 140 occupies its retracted rest position. The rotational drive of the pinion 133 clockwise through a control actuated by a passenger wishing to rotate the backrest 102 forward, will cause the sliding forward of the keeper 120 so that its strike wire 123 protrudes more and more from the opening 132 of the support housing 130.
At first, the bellows 140 is not biased so that it remains in its rest position.
When the striker 120 comes about halfway, the curved free end 125A of the first branch 125 of the striker wire 123 comes into contact with the rear face of the rigid closure member 141 (Figure 6).
Continuing the sliding movement towards the front of the striker 120 will then result in displacement of this closure member 141 pushed by this free end 125 of the striker thread 123, and consequently the extension of the bellows 140.
FIG. 7 shows the striker 120 in its second abutment position corresponding to the maximum forward inclination of the backrest 102 in which the plate 121 (and therefore the light 122 thereof) is closest to the front of the case support 130 through the opening 132 being completely surrounded by the bellows 140 which then occupies its maximum elongation configuration, so as to prevent the introduction of a finger or any object through the protruding portion of this light 122 (see also Figure 2).
According to an alternative embodiment not shown, the free end 125A of the first branch 125 of the striker wire 123 extends tangentially to the pivot axis of the backrest 102 being welded to the front portion of the lower edge of the plate 121 , so that the elongation of the bellows is then caused by the front edge of the plate 121 coming into contact with the rear face of the rigid closure element 141
FIG. 8 illustrates another embodiment of the invention in which the bellows 140 is rigidly connected to the striker wire 123 via a connecting element 143 extending rigidly between its two branches 124, 125 and on which the front portion of this bellows 140 is then preferably fixed by riveting.
This connecting element 143 is preferably constituted by two half-bodies integrally molded from a thermoplastic polymer optionally filled with mineral fibers and assembled to one another by ultrasonic welding.
According to this embodiment, the bellows 140 begins to lengthen as soon as the striker 120 deviates from its first stop position corresponding to the maximum inclination towards the rear of the backrest 102, this greater stress, however, may cause term faster wear of this bellows 140.
In the two embodiments illustrated respectively in FIGS. 2 to 7 and in FIG. 8, the bellows 140 permanently surrounds the protruding portion of the plate 121 of the striker 120, independently of the amplitude of its stroke, and without ever cover the radial base 124 of its strike wire 123 cooperating with the latch bolt, so as to prevent the latter causes a twist or deterioration of the bellows 140. The use of these protection means is particularly well suited for multi-position locking devices for a rear seat back whose striker has a large stroke amplitude.
According to another embodiment not shown, the protection means are simply constituted by a non-stretchable bellows whose gripping member of the keeper protrudes constantly, this fastener member then not necessarily being constituted by a wire strike but for example by a hook.
However, this particular mode being conceivable only when the stroke of the striker is reduced so that this bellows can permanently surround the protruding portion of the plate of the striker.
Of course, the present invention is not limited to the embodiments described and shown, but encompasses any embodiment within the scope of the skilled person.
